In this guide, you will learn how to set up a Web3 Wallet in your desktop browser. This guide will cover the following Web3 Wallets, all of these wallet integrate seamlessly with Bitkind.

MetaMask

MetaMask

  1. To get started setting up MetaMask in your web browser, download the MetaMask web extension from the Chrome Web Store or from https://metamask.io/download/. MetaMask is supported in the following web browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge and Opera.

  2. Wait for the extension to finish downloading. Once it is done you can open the extension by clicking on the puzzle piece icon in the top right of your web browser. Click on MetaMask.

  3. After clicking on the MetaMask extension a new tab will open. Agree to the terms of use and click on “Create a new wallet” to proceed.

  4. You can chose to agree to allow MetaMask to collect your data or click on “No thanks”.

    1. Create a secure password for your wallet. This password will only be used to access your wallet from the device that you are setting up MetaMask on. Your password is not saved on MetaMask servers, so be sure to remember it!

    2. Next you will need to secure your wallet by backing up your secret phrase. This 12-24 word phrase is the only way to gain access to your wallet in case you lose your device, so be sure to write it down and store it in a safe place. Click “Secure my wallet” to proceed.

    1. Write down your secret phrase in order and store it in a secure place. Click “Next” and you will be asked to confirm your secret phrase by filling in the blank spaces on the following page. Click on confirm to finish backing up your wallet.

    Note: It is not recommended to use Google Drive or any online service to store your secret phrase. In any case where your Google account were to become compromised your secret phrase would also become available to anyone with access to your account. This would allow them to have complete control over your wallet and allow them to steal your crypto. It is paramount that you store your secret phrase in a secure offline location, as anyone with this secret phrase will have access to all of your crypto assets in your wallet.

    1. You’re all set! Your wallet is now set up and ready to use.

Trust Wallet

  1. To get started setting up Trust Wallet in your web browser, download the Trust Wallet Browser Extension from the Chrome Web Store or directly from https://trustwallet.com/download.

  2. Wait for the extension to finish downloading. Once it is done, you can open the extension by clicking on the puzzle piece icon in the top-right corner of your web browser. Select Trust Wallet from the list.

  3. After clicking on the Trust Wallet extension, a new tab will open. Click “Create a New Wallet” to proceed.
